People won’t understand.

One thing that I think is important to remember right now, is a lot of people won’t understand. They don’t understand your need to distance yourself from them, they don’t understand that you don’t feel safe around them any more.

To them, they made their choice based on money and some perceived safety. To us, they chose money over basic human rights.

It will never make sense to me, and I know that most people will see this and think it’s ridiculous. But it’s not. If you pay attention, you will see the truth.

I’m thankful I can write this right now, but in a few months time, that may not be the case. With the new laws they plan to impose, I may not be able to write/publish at all anymore. So, I will do what I can with what time I have left.

I will always fight for human rights. We are all human, and we all deserve basic rights, no matter who you are, where you come from, or who you choose to love or be. The fact that so many people don’t believe that is disgusting and I can never understand it.

I am someone who is distancing myself from those who chose money over my rights, and I hope that someday, maybe those people will understand. If they don’t, that’s not on me. I will protect myself and my peace and I will fight for my rights and everyone else’s for as long as I can.

A country we don’t all feel safe in, is a country I cannot be proud of.

You may not understand, and that’s okay. Someday maybe you will. And if you do understand, then I hope that we prevail and we can overcome this terrifying and unprecedented time.
